Brighton Orpheus Choir is pleased to announce an evening of song and stories by Jeremy Bines, the Chorus Master at the world renowned Glyndebourne Opera.

Guests will be very welcome to join with members of the choir to hear first hand what it is like to be a Chorus Master and how the Glyndebourne chorus rehearses.

After a short break (during which wine & nibbles will be on sale) the choir and guests confident in reading music are invited to rehearse two opera choruses with Jeremy. Other guests are very welcome to sit back and enjoy the rehearsal.

Jeremy Bines studied Music at the University of Cambridge, trained as a répétiteur at the National Opera Studio and studied conducting with Diego Masson and Neil Thomson. Since 2009 he has been Chorus Master of Glyndebourne. He was Assistant Music Director of the Belle-Ile-en-Mer Festival, France from 2005-7 and Chorus Master of the Royal Danish Opera from 2007-9. As a pianist and coach he has made several recordings and worked for major companies including ROH and ENO, as well as in France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Denmark.

Recent conducting engagements include a ballet double bill (Bizet Symphony in C, Løvenskiold La Sylphide) with the Danish Radio Sinfonietta and Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen and Budapest, assisting on the world première of Birtwistle The Corridorwith the London Sinfonietta for the Aldeburgh Festival, and assisting on The Turn of the Screw for the Glyndebourne Festival.

In autumn 2011 Jeremy conducted several performances of La Bohème for the Glyndebourne Tour.
