Choir dress code

Women - Winter and Spring Concerts

Long black skirts, to the ankle. Straight, A-line or pleated if they hang straight. Slit skirts are acceptable.

Not dark blue, navy or grey
Not sun-ray, flounced or very full
Not mid calf, or very shiny / glittery

Black tights or knee-lengths
Smart clean black shoes

White shirts or blouses, open necked, with buttons all down the front, long sleeves to the wrist, turned down collars, reasonably close fitting and tucked in.

No bare legs or feet
No open sandals

No Peter Pan, mandarin or stand up collars
No ruffles
Not cream or ivory

Discreet jewellery and a small black handbag
Black belts with discreet buckles at wearer’s discretion
Very light if any scent / perfume

The Orpheus uniform silk scarf, to be worn as advised.

Please do not wash these scarves as the colour runs. They should need no more than a light press.

Men - Winter and Spring Concerts

Black jackets, black trousers, plain white shirts with normal collars and long sleeves.	Not dark blue, navy or grey No cummerbunds No stiffened or wing collars
Black socks and smart clean black shoes.	No open sandals

The Orpheus uniform bow tie.

Summer Concert

For the summer concert we have a more informal uniform with coloured shirts/blouses, no jackets for the men, black bow ties for the men rather than the Orpheus pink ones and without the Choir scarves for women. For women, tights/knee lengths can be left off and smart open black sandals worn. Otherwise, as above. At present, the colours are bright and/or clear shades of blue or green in odd-numbered years and of red/yellow/orange in even years. Blue does not include purple, grey or dark navy, and green does not include dark olive/khaki/sludge, but shades of aqua/turquoise are fine. Red does not include pastel pink or brown. Sleeves will always be long for both men and women. No open sandals for men.

We may add other items, such as flowers, if the occasion seems appropriate.
