Helen-Jane Howells

Helen-Jane Howells  (soprano)

Helen-Jane Howells graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2002, and has soon become an experienced vocalist and choral singer. She has sung with Welsh National Opera, the BBC Chorus and as a member of Serendipity made recordings for the BBC.

The versatility of her voice lends itself to many styles. Recent solo oratorio work includes Bach's St John and St Matthew Passions, Vivaldi's Gloria and Handel's Messiah. In musical theatre she played Joanna in Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, and recently Lucy Lockit in an outdoor performance of The Beggar's Opera with the Fletching Singers.

At an International Summer School in Sussex last summer, she was a soloist in several events, singing Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen, Gabriel in Haydn's oratorio The Creation, and in Verdi's Requiem.

Helen has been a full time music teacher for two years, whilst also extending her knowledge of languages, working with the Everyman Theatre Company in drama workshops and plays.  She now lives and works in Cambridge.

Shona Hull  (girl soprano)

Shona takes the solo part for the well-known Pie Jesu in John Rutter's Requiem.  She moved to Lewes with her family 10 years ago, when she was 4.  Firstly a pupil at Southover Primary School, she went on to Brighton College at 11 and has this year moved to the Senior School where she is an Academic, Music and Dance scholar.  She plays the flute and piano, and is a member of various college choirs, orchestras and the Lewes Youth Choir.  She sang the treble solo in Brighton College Choral Society's recent performance of Fauré's Requiem with several members of the Brighton Orpheus Choir.  When she is not involved in music she is often to be found performing ballet, tap or jazz dance or being driven around the area by a long-suffering taxi-service ....

Frank Jordan (tenor)

Frank started singing on stage. His first major role was as Tulsa in Gypsy (1984) and since then has played other roles in musical comedy and revue including Oklahoma, The Boy Friend and Showboat.

While living in Rome for four years he sang in the Choro Capella Sistina as first tenor and gregorianist and with the Choro Academia Philharmonica.  Back in Sussex he recently appeared as Colonel Fairfax in The Yeomen of the Guard for Southwick Opera, and is appearing later this year with them in Otello as Roderigo. At the end of March he is appearing as Pierre in the Worthing Light Opera production of Bless the Bride. He is a first tenor with both the Brighton Festival Chorus and with the Brighton Orpheus Choir.
