‘Come and Sing’ Dvorak’s Requiem at Barbican

From Julia Jacob (SOP1) : “In conjunction with Radio 3, the Barbican in London have great ‘Come and Sing’ sessions, led by Mary King (she of English National Opera/ Glyndebourne/ Cardiff Singer of the World competition/ Channel 4’s ‘Operatunity’ and ‘Musicality’ fame). The next one is ‘Come & Sing Dvořák’s Requiem’ on Friday 07 April at 7pm at the City Of London School for Girls at the Barbican.
It costs £10 and typically the duration is 2-2.5 hrs – and it should be great fun as well as a fab learning experience (her vocal ‘warm-ups’ are quire something!).
Granted, London is quite a way to go for a Friday night sing (!) but if our fellow choristers happen to be planning a stay with friends in London that that weekend or if someone – or a group – feel up to braving the train back to Brighton, it’ll be definitely worth it if the previous ones I have attended – Bach & Mozart being most memorable! – are anything to go by! (A return train ticket can be got for between £10 & £18.50 from Brighton, and I reckon one would get the 10.20 or 10.50pm train back from London Victoria so be back in Brighton by 11.30/45pm.)
